Let’s Get Sticky!

Web 2.0 World
This information is designed to provide teachers with a directory of free web tools along with some suggestions as to how they may be used. This week’s topic is: Let’s Get Sticky!

Google Maps: Create unlimited maps with pop-up sticky notes. You can add in text, photos, and even video. Go to http://maps.google.ca to view a short introductory video to get you started. Great to use by teachers and students alike!

Glogster: Create multimedia posters with digital sticky-notes that can be text-based, links, and videos. A creative way to summarize any subject outcome. Use Glogster to get your students’ attention on a particular topic or have your students collaborate in small groups to develop their own Glogsters for an assignment.
• Examples: 1, 2, 3

Bubble Ply: Add bubbles, links and captions to video. It’s as easy as going to the BubblePly website, uploading a YouTube video, and then following the user-friendly directions to add callouts (thought bubbles, commentary bubbles) that will nudge your student-viewers to think more deeply about what they’re watching by drawing their attention to specific content within the video clip. Once you’re done, save your project to your BubblePly space and it’s ready to show your students.
 Examples: 1, 2

Wallwisher: Create sticky-notes that have text, links, attached documents, pictures and video. No need to register just go directly to http://wallwisher.com . Here you can view a demo wall before you build your own. A great way to post information on a topic, ask a question, and have students answer online or even ask for staff feedback.
• Examples: George, Geometry, Story, Vocabulary

SharedCopy: This is a web annotation tool that allows users to mark-up, highlight, draw, annotate, cache, sticky-note and share any website. Sign up free at http://sharedcopy.com/ and then drag the SharedCopy bookmark icon into your toolbar (make sure it’s unlocked). Click on this bookmark whenever you need to annotate a page, then send it to your email, Twitter, Blog or Delicious library.
